The town of Knights Ferry is a small and quiet river town with its main street running along the southern bank of the river. The town boasts a beautiful wooden covered bridge that spans the river above the town. It is the longest covered bridge west of the Mississippi, and you can ride a bike over it. Another local attraction is the Tullochs Mill site. Now an attractive ruin, the site was first a grain mill, powered by falling water from the Sierras, then in the late nineteenth century it was changed over to a generating station for electricity. It's fun to check out the ancient machinery that remains today.

Day two on this tour you have the option of rafting with Sunshine Rafting Adventures and you can choose to do a casual float trip or a real white water adventure. From a bridge in town, weve spotted salmon by the dozens, fighting their way upstream on the Stanislaus River. For those of you who choose to skip the rafting, were also offering a van tour through the gold country where well visit the gold towns of Jamestown and Columbia.
