Weekend Camping Tour ~ September 21 - 23
If youre looking for a flat ride on quiet roads by scenic waterways, through lush farmland and orchards, this is the tour for you. Youll cycle between sleepy Delta towns along levee roads bordered by water on one side and farmland on the other. The area is great for bird watching or fishing with over 1,000 miles of secluded waterways known for excellent yachting, houseboating and water-skiing. There are so few cars on most of the levee roads that they seem more like bike paths than roads.
Well camp both nights at a group campsite at Brannon Island State Park. On Saturday, well ride through the towns of Isleton, Walnut Grove & Locke. On Sunday, well take the ferry to Ryder Island and cycle around the island before having lunch at the Grand Island Mansion. This 20,000 square foot, 58 room mansion was built in 1917. Cloaked in mystery until recent times, the mansion was said to be a palace of illicit pleasures during the Prohibition years.
The fun doesnt have to end here. If you'd like to do a longer trip, this ride will combine nicely with the Midweek Houseboat Tour that begins on Monday.
2 nights camping, 2 days cycling, all breakfasts, dinners, snacks and 1 lunch. Price $259
